Really cool so far. I don’t remember hearing drums like that before. Is that a standard pattern? The bass progression was great…I thought I was living in a Quentin Tarantino film there for a minute.

Christian – the mixing of the drums is kind of unusual – I only used direct mics (ie one on the snare, one on the kick, one on each tom) and not any overheads or room mics. It strips away all the ambience and leaves you with a very dry sound. That sound was then very heavily compressed, which creates an ambience of its own. the pattern itself is a stripped back funk beat – some early 70s James Brown influence coming through there.
